A KS3 lesson (aimed at Y8) in which students look at the process from arrest to release from prison, the role of the police and how we punish youth offenders. Lesson is 100 minutes long and includes a couple of small video clips

We had time at the end of term to show the full film of Juno. We used this to teach students about pregnancy, but about the varying choices if a student was to find themselves, or their partner, pregnant. Students watch the film, discuss and create a leaflet. A new unit of work using the PSHE association mapping structure for the new 2020 Relationship, Sex and Health Education area. This unit is aimed at Year 7. But suitable for any KS3 group. Lesson 2 looks at online safety. Students are encouraged to think about WHAT they share, WHY they share it and WHERE this data ends up. They look at a case study that considers the impact of revenge porn. Students then produce an information leaflet. If you download please leave a review.

Centres around the film Wall:E. As most children have seen this you probably won’t need to show the whole film (but is nice if you have a reward afternoon). The idea of the project is for the students to become advocates of something that will help the world and to create a campaign to stop it from happening e.g. preventing litter in school, raising awareness about water use. A great project that centres around the film Pay it Forward (not essential to watch, but makes for nice class discussions and gives them ideas). We usually do this around April to coincide with the global Pay it Forward Day. But can be done at any time of the year and would be particularly nice in the run up to Christmas. Transition lesson for our roll over curriculum (Y9 students started the AQA GCSE Citizenship course in the last two weeks of the Summer Term). Lesson looks at the timeline of the general election 2024, looking at the manifestos, live debate and who the new prime minister is. Very discussion based/watching video clips, but works well as a transition lesson/introduction to the course.
